Foster-Miller has been involved with the transportation industry for more than 20 years. We have researched and solved engineering and operational problems in highway, rail and air operations.
For the past 10 years, we have done structural analysis, fatigue evaluation and life cycle costing of bridges. One project led to the development of a technique for sensing reduced friction between a tire and the roadway surface. We are currently working on numerous collision avoidance and warning devices. Our development of a bus collision warning system was recognized in 2001 with the first Tibbetts Award ever given by the Department of Transportation.
Foster-Miller is an internationally recognized leader in the field of railroad track structural evaluation. Our analysis methodologies and specialized test devices provide a full range of capabilities for the assessment of the safety and optimal maintenance of continuous welded rail. We also examine operating practices such as worker safety, operator fatigue and training requirements.
Foster-Miller also provides unique capabilities in full-scale structural testing and analysis to address a wide range of issues related to aging aircraft in our own aging aircraft test facility.
